The audience member shuffles the deck thouroghly, then the magician shuffles it, the deck is then placed in someones pocket - either the magician or a member from the audience.
The spectator chooses a card, and estimates how many cards can be drawn out of the pocket before reaching it; upon reaching the estimate, the magician takes out the next card and voila! The card appears, exactly as predicted.
This technique involves "Forcing a Card" upon the audience, you should learn this technique before attempting this trick.
After the audience member shuffles the deck, the magician cuts it until it finds one of the following cards:
- A 10 of any suit
- An Ace of any suit
- Any other royal of any suit
Once this is found, the magician shuffles it so that that card is second from the bottom. The deck is fanned to the audience to show that nothing is pre-determined.
Once the card is forced, ask the audience member how many cards they think you can draw out of the pocket before getting to the card. (Between 1 and 10 stops the trick from taking too long).
For example, if they say "6", you draw the first card from the bottom, then another five cards from the top of the deck, finally, you draw the bottom card and voila! If you did the trick right, then it will be the card you forced on them!
