Face Up Cards
Effect:
The deck is cut in two reasonably equal sizes. One half given to spectator and one half is kept. The spectator selects one card and removes from deck and places it face down on table. You select one card from your half and place it face down on talbe. You place the spectator's card in center of your half of deck. You place card your selected card in center of spectator's half of deck. You ask spectator to mix his cards a little and you ask for half of his deck. You place the first half of his deck face up on bottom of your deck. You place second half of his deck face up on top of your deck. You show that your deck is face down and the two halfs of his deck are face up. You bring the cards together and ask spectator which card he selected. You reveal which card you selected. You turn the deck over and spread them out revealing that the card the spectator picked and the card you picked are the only two cards that are face up.
Secret:
Prior to starting trick place bottom card of deck face up and remember this card. Keep the deck tight in hand so spectator cannot see overturned card on bottom. Give spectator half of the deck and request him to select a card and place face down on table. You do the same from your half. The card you select has nothing to do with the trick. When the spectator is distracted, you turn your deck over in your hand. All your cards are now face up with the exception of bottom card. Keeping the deck tight prevents spectator from seeing this. You place the selected card from spectator in center of your deck. Place the card you removed from your deck in center of spectator's deck (remember this card has nothing to do with trick). Ask spectator to mix up cards. Then take half of his deck and place face up on bottom of your deck. Take second half and place face up on top of your deck. It appears to spectator the your half is face down and his two halfs are face up. Since your turned your deck over this is not true. Only top card is face down. Bring the deck together and ask spectator what his selected card was. You reveal to him your selected card which was actually the original turned over card on bottom of deck, NOT the one you selected. Turn the cards over, spread them out and the spectator's card and yours are face up and the rest of deck is face down. Easy trick..practice once or twice and you will do it well.
